M.A.C and NYX are two of my favourite brands so it feels slightly wrong to pit them against each other and make them battle it out on the whole "superior concealer" title. I adore reading other high end vs. drugstore posts though, so I felt prompted to write one of my own. The Products: M.A.C - Studio Finish Concealer NYX - Above &...
What a hoot potpourri is. Never thought i'd say that in my life, ever. Last night I hosted a Christmas dinner party at my house (how grown up I must sound!) and I thought it would be a nice touch to make the house smell like Christmas. Unfortunately, time got the better of me and I completely forgot to do this. But the...
I originally hadn't planned on posting this on my blog buut I decided "eh, why not!". A few weeks ago I snapchatted my sister a smokey eye make-up look and just yesterday she told me I should film how I do it. It honestly isn't my finest work of make-up (relying on the viewfinder is freaking hard!) but I thought the final outcome...
Im gonna make this short and sweet. I bought the avobath bath bomb about three weeks ago and was saving it for the right moment. I was in the midst of studying, I needed a break, it started to rain...it was showtime. Despite this bath bomb being called 'avobath' it smells of strong lemongrass (which is my favourite scent). Initially I wasn't drawn...
Kay so it's four days into November..but I couldn't miss the opportunity to do a post on my October favourites as I discovered/re-discovered many great products. Hope October was good for everyone! For me it was pretty great - I got to go see one of my favourite bands RUFUS play, went to my first bloggers event 'the doll connection' in Brisbane, went...
I’ve seen almost 30 artists live so naturally I’ve become quite acquainted to the many types of people at a concert. Some are good, and some very very bad. The people who are there for the music These people are the b.e.s.t. You can tell they genuinely love the band and are there to boogy or sway to the sweet sounds that are...
Nothing says commitment like using up a product 'til its last ounce. I shamelessly have collected up these products for months. Shout out to those girls with the monthly 'empties' posts..I have no clue how you can gather so many things! I like empties posts. I feel like I can trust a bloggers opinion a whole lot more if they've used up an...
For months I've been lusting over my 'Whirl' lipliner. So naturally, when I discovered that it was going to be introduced into a limited edition matte lipstick range I was ecstatic. Whirl is described as a dirty rose shade - uniting both pink and brown together. As you would have seen in my MAC lipstick collection I tend to lean towards the pink/nude...
When it comes to blogging we all have different comfort zones. Some feel confident to post about their blog on personal social media platforms while some don’t post about their blog at all. I must confess that I’m in that second category. I decided to create a blog because I wanted a creative outlet where I felt like I was being productive. For...
I’m a picky lass when it comes to mascaras - so you should know that only the best of the best made it to the list. I’m not blessed with those naturally fluttery lashes (you girls know who you are) so I really have to rely on mascara to lift my eyelash game. So here are my favourite five mascaras ever in no...
I’ve decided that I’m going to do a monthly round up of all the music I have been loving in the month. Personally I love the feeling of finding new music. Nothing is better than listening to a song for the first time and realizing “damn I’m going to break the replay button on this one”. One of my little quirks is that...
This really is not a post I wanted to post due to the sheer embarrassment about the whole...ahem..saga. The only reason I am posting this is so someone can learn from my mistakes. So, the other day I was like "hey i'm pale i'm gonna fake tan!". So I applied one coat Dove medium-dark fake tan. Let it dry. Applied another coat -...
Lately I haven't been able to get around to the hobby that I love most: blogging. Life can really get in the way, can't it? All I can do is roll with it and hope for free time soon. The last two months have been B-U-S-Y. I'm the kinda gal who cherishes my free time so it'd a shock to the system to...
I'm still kinda in denial that August is over. Not only did it go so fast but it means that it's the end of winter *sob*. This month I have gotten super busy with university, placement, work, gym, life things..but alas I have been loving some great products. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation you rock! Honestly this foundation has been so good to me in...
One foundation I’ve had my beady eyes on for ages is Nars “Sheer
Glow”. Fun fact: this was the first high end foundation I’ve ever purchased. In
the past I’d use drug store foundations or my mums supply of high end
foundations (yay for being the same colour! yay for my mum being cool and
letting me use them! And yay that they were quality brands!). Ahem..back to
what I was saying. Nars “Sheer Glow” is a foundation that sooo many people have
been raving on about for a while and I wanted to jump on that bandwagon.
I had a peak on the Nars website to see the description
of the foundation and it’s described as “a glowing, natural radiant finish
foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone”.
I agree with the description almost completely. The only thing I don’t agree
with is the whole ‘sheer’ description. It aint sheer. One pump does more than
enough for me. Heck..sometimes one pump looks a little too much. But it doesn’t
exactly matter that this isn’t a ‘sheer’ foundation as the finish is completely
natural as if it was sheer – if that makes any sense??
I'll give some good ole' pros and cons to sum this foundation up.
Pros:
- Amazing coverage which evens out the skin tone. Seriously it works miracles.
- Natural finish which doesn't look cakey in the slightest
- Chic packaging (I feel classy using this?)
- Longlasting - lasted me through an 8 hour shift at work, hooray!
- As the name suggests - has a "glowy" finish which makes the skin look healthy and radiant
- I haven't had any breakouts since using this foundation for a solid month
- Great colour range. Found a shade that finally matches my skin tone.
- The pump situation. Annoying as hell if you travel quite a bit. The foundation doesn't get sold with a pump but you can purchase one for $4. That would fix it, right? Yes and no. Once the pump is attached you're then not able to put the lid on over as it can't fit. So when you're on the move it makes it quite tricky - do I leave the pump on and hope it doesnt leak? Do I just leave the pump and use the lid? It's not a HUGE dealbreaker but hey, it's kinda annoying.
- Price? It costs $65. Not dreadful, but not a fab price.
So to answer the question in my title: yes this has become my holy grail foundation. Once this bottle is used up i'll definitely go back to purchase another one. I love it, I love it, I loooove it.
What's your holy grail foundation?
Holly xx
