Has Nars "Sheer Glow" Become My Holy Grail Foundation?

04:04:00

One foundation I’ve had my beady eyes on for ages is Nars “Sheer Glow”. Fun fact: this was the first high end foundation I’ve ever purchased. In the past I’d use drug store foundations or my mums supply of high end foundations (yay for being the same colour! yay for my mum being cool and letting me use them! And yay that they were quality brands!). Ahem..back to what I was saying. Nars “Sheer Glow” is a foundation that sooo many people have been raving on about for a while and I wanted to jump on that bandwagon.

I had a peak on the Nars website to see the description of the foundation and it’s described as “a glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone”. I agree with the description almost completely. The only thing I don’t agree with is the whole ‘sheer’ description. It aint sheer. One pump does more than enough for me. Heck..sometimes one pump looks a little too much. But it doesn’t exactly matter that this isn’t a ‘sheer’ foundation as the finish is completely natural as if it was sheer – if that makes any sense??

I'll give some good ole' pros and cons to sum this foundation up.

Pros:

  • Amazing coverage which evens out the skin tone. Seriously it works miracles.
  • Natural finish which doesn't look cakey in the slightest
  • Chic packaging (I feel classy using this?)
  • Longlasting - lasted me through an 8 hour shift at work, hooray!
  • As the name suggests - has a "glowy" finish which makes the skin look healthy and radiant
  • I haven't had any breakouts since using this foundation for a solid month
  • Great colour range. Found a shade that finally matches my skin tone.
Cons:

  • The pump situation. Annoying as hell if you travel quite a bit. The foundation doesn't get sold with a pump but you can purchase one for $4. That would fix it, right? Yes and no. Once the pump is attached you're then not able to put the lid on over as it can't fit. So when you're on the move it makes it quite tricky - do I leave the pump on and hope it doesnt leak? Do I just leave the pump and use the lid? It's not a HUGE dealbreaker but hey, it's kinda annoying.
  • Price? It costs $65. Not dreadful, but not a fab price.

So to answer the question in my title: yes this has become my holy grail foundation. Once this bottle is used up i'll definitely go back to purchase another one. I love it, I love it, I loooove it.

What's your holy grail foundation?

  3. I think I'm the only person disappointed with this foundation :/ I feel like it's very chalky on my skin and hard to blend it - I also got the wrong shade by accident, making me look like a walking ghost haha. I'm still looking out for my holy grail foundation!

    1. Oh dear!! It's terrible having the wrong shade foundation! I sometimes find it a little hard to blend but the beauty blender comes in handy to polish it off x
